Full Day: Blue Nile Falls & Lake Tana Monasteries
Your day starts with a morning drive from Bahir Dar to the magnificent Blue Nile Falls, locally known as “Tis Isat” or “Smoke of Fire.” Enjoy a guided walk through the scenic landscape to admire the waterfall, surrounding cliffs, and lush vegetation before returning to Bahir Dar for lunch. In the afternoon, take a relaxing boat trip across Lake Tana, Ethiopia’s largest lake and the source of the Blue Nile River. Visit the Zege Peninsula monasteries, including the famous Ura Kidane Mehret and Azwa Maryam monasteries, celebrated for their colorful 16th-century murals, ancient manuscripts, and sacred treasures. After exploring the monasteries and enjoying the peaceful lakeside atmosphere, return to Bahir Dar in the late afternoon.
